It’s Election Day! Join me at Election Fest

We’ve made it to Election Day. Votes from the past month’s mail-in ballots, and today’s in-person ballots, will be tallied this evening and winners announced. It’s been an amazing few months getting to know neighbors all around Ward 3, and learning about our great ward and city. I’m still in awe from the overwhelming love and support from my family and friends. Whatever the outcome, I want to sincerely thank you for joining me on this journey. I’ll be in touch as soon as we hear more.

In the meantime, see below for information about today’s events from the City.

The wait is over, Hyattsville – today, May 9, is Election Day in Hyattsville! Polls are NOW OPEN at the City Building, 4310 Gallatin Street, until 8 p.m. Spanish language assistance and accessible voting options like curbside voting and touchscreen voting systems will also be available.

What am I Voting on?

Today’s City Election will select Hyattsville’s next Mayor and one Councilmember from each of the City’s five Wards. The newly elected officials will serve terms through June 2027. You can learn more about how our Council is composed here.

A reminder that Hyattsville offers both 16- and 17-year old voting and resident only voting in City elections. (U.S. citizenship is not a requirement to vote.) You just have to be 16 years old and a resident of the City to have a say in selecting your next Mayor and Councilmembers! Learn more about Hyattsville’s voter criteria here.

I still have my Ballot…

If you’ve not yet returned your ballot, you have until 8 p.m. today to deposit it at a secure City election drop box. Look for the brightly colored boxes that say “Vote here.” Do not mail your ballot as it will not arrive in time to be counted!

Drop boxes are located at:

  • Hyattsville City Building, 4310 Gallatin Street
  • Edward M. Felegy Elementary School, 6110 Editors Park Drive (box faces Nicholson Street)
  • Hyattsville Branch Library, 6530 Adelphi Road (box is located inside the main entry doors, available during Library operating hours)

Voters who have returned their mail-in ballot can track its progress using the Ballot Scout tool at hyattsville.org/vote.

Already Voted? Bring the Family & Join us for Election Fest!

Come celebrate democracy at Hyattsville’s Election Fest later on today! Festivities start at 5 p.m. at the City Building, 4310 Gallatin St. Join us for: Free hot dogs & Mister Magic ice cream! Local beer & mead vendors: Franklins Brewery, Streetcar 82, and Maryland Meadworks Music by DJ Baspy Bouncy house! Announcement of the winners of the student “I Voted” sticker contest. Stay late for the announcement of the unofficial election results! Future Voters! While Hyattsville’s kids can’t yet vote for Council, they can come to Election Fest to vote in the (more important?) debate of whether a hot dog is a sandwich or not! Kids 15 and under who cast a hot dog ballot will also receive a “Future Voter” certificate with the year they will be eligible to vote in City elections. Votes will be tallied that evening and City Council will issue a proclamation in favor of the winning opinion!
