Meet Kareem Redmond

Since moving to Ward 3 in 2012, my love has only grown for Hyattsville and the people that make our community unique. That uniqueness is not something I take for granted.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in nonprofit management, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. For the last several years, I’ve served as the president of One Independence Plaza’s condo association and in this role I’ve implemented solutions to improve the well-being of several hundred residents. I also advocate for University Town Center’s revitalization as a steering committee member of the Hyattsville Crossing Business Improvement District. There is a consistent theme among all my experiences. It is my ability to build relationships and align individuals around shared goals to create a better future for those I serve.
It will be my honor to represent Ward 3 residents on Hyattsville’s City Council. On Council, I will promote intentional economic growth while preserving Hyattsville’s uniqueness, support investment in resident and public safety, and advocate on behalf of residents to the city government.
A little more about me. I grew up in Albany, NY and moved to this area in 2003 to attend college. I earned a bachelors of arts in political science at Howard University and a masters of science in nonprofit management from the University of Maryland.
When I’m not at work or leading the condo association, you can find me with friends or supporting local businesses and restaurants along Route 1.
